All are gorgeous but for this space the lighter color was the best choice I think! This last picture you can see the different tile options I was deciding between and I went with this primarily white with black option. We ended up using a solution called………from Home Depot to dissolve all the glue and then spent a few hours scraping it off.Īs you can see, it was already somewhat under construction when I took the pictures but you get the idea. This vinyl floor was REALLY stuck on there. They cut a huge hole in the wall to access all the pipes which we later had to re-drywall. This was a lot more complicated that we thought it would be. It had been like this for two years! After we removed the vanity and had our sink picked out, we had to have a plumber come and put another water line and drain in since we went from a single to a double sink. That was from when we remodeled our master bathroom, which is directly above this bathroom, and they had to cut in the ceiling instead of break the brand new floor tile in order to correctly plumb the bathtub faucet. It was in good shape and it would have cost us at least $2k to remove it and buy/install a new one so…nah. That was kind of the final straw in just saying “Let’s do this.” Notice we actually left the bathtub. This toilet would just drip constantly from the broken seal on the tank. The actual vanity was in rough shape and the doors/drawers were practically falling of so it felt so good to just rip those off! Demo is a beautiful thing. My husband and oldest son Roman had a good time ripping and smashing all this up.
So, here are some before pictures of this glorious bathroom from 1997 complete with vinyl flooring, a nice fiberglass shower surround, which I believe was actually an update from the previous owners, and some formica counters. Not to mention our stinky boys use it and I didn’t want to spend the time making their bathroom beautiful until I had other parts of my house done that were unfinished. My husband and I waited until just last year to complete this bathroom makeover because, well…it’s the boys bathroom! No one really sees it and it’s downstairs.
